Destination: China; Countdown: 7weeks & 2days

Situated in eastern Asia on the

western shore of the Pacific Ocean, China offers a vibrant mix of historical
landmarks, and modern, ever-expanding skylines-- and in officially 7 weeks and 2 days
I will be departing to this bustling country with 36 other individuals from across the country!!

ILSSO- short for International Leadership Seminar for State Officers- allows students who are currently serving or who have served as FFA State Officers in years past to experience the agriculture and historic sights of another country. The biggest opportunity I hope to gain from this trip is the continual advocacy of agriculture from a young persons view. I believe it is important to stay up with the changing views and trends of the Agriculture industry not only in our own rural backyards, lonestar state and country but on a global scale.

With China on the uprise of becoming the world's largest importer of agricultural products in the next 5-10 years, it is important to understand how this market demand will effect our own industry and production. More than anything I want to take this proactive next step in education myself on something that not only affects my family business and livelihood but also my future career.

Most looking forward to:
1. Traveling Abroad
 2. Visting Shanghai,
the Oriental Paris of China
3. Visting the Xinfadi Agricultural
Products Wholesale Market
 4. Seeing the "Birds Nest" and
"Water Cube" of the 2008 Summer Olympics
5. Meeting other State Officers
from across the country

More updates to come! In the meantime I will be researching the locations we will be visiting and the agriculture industry of China as well as starting the countdown!!
